Catching up with Friends and Family

During our travels, we have met some great people, so on this trip we are making an effort to cross paths with some of them. On Saturday we had dinner with Nancy Dile. We first met her at the Habitat for Humanity build we did last year in Ocala, Florida. She lives in St. Petersburg and suggested we eat at a seafood restaurant called Leverock's. It was a great choice! Dinner was delicious and they serve a killer grasshopper!! We enjoyed hearing of Nancy's latest travels. She recently returned from an African safari and during a recent trip to China, she participated in a marathon that included running on a portion of the Great Wall of China! She finished in under 8 hours and received a Finisher's medal. Her next adventure may be a caravan to Alaska with other singles.

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, we drove to Deland, Florida to visit with Barbara and Leroy Stults and Grandma Cellar. Grandma was just getting over a stomach virus but was able to eat some "real" food again. Barb had a lunch of cheesy potatoes and hamburgers for us. After lunch, Glenn, Barb and I drove to Daytona Beach to get a bottle of water and sand from the Atlantic Ocean for Caitlin. She asked us to get some from each ocean we visited.

After Leroy got home, we went to see a unique method a local farmer was using to grow vegetables, flowers and strawberries. They are styrofoam pots stacked on poles with an irrigation system. Pretty neat!

After a take out dinner from Luigi's, we played some dirty marbles. It ended at 2 wins for both the women and men.

It's too bad we couldn't spend more time with them, but we had to get back to pack up the motorhome for tomorrow's appointment for an alignment on the motorhome.

Friday we will be meeting up with another couple we met at the Habitat build. Neal and Bev Brown recently built a new home not too far from where we are staying, so we are going there for a tour and then out for dinner.

Saturday we will be pulling out of this campground to begin our journey west. Next stop - San Antonio, Texas.
